This event aims to bring a Paediatrics, Periodontics and Orthodontics together to discuss and showcase the ABC’s of Oral Health.

Brunch Style Event:Advances in Orthodontics, Periodontics and Paediatric Dentistry

  • Key Learning Objectives:

Orthodontics: orthodontic extractions where’s the current state of evidence, a case of a missing condyle – how to recognise this rare but serious condition

Periodontics: advances in diagnostics & nonsurgical periodontal treatment, the use of lasers and perioscopy, antibiotics and antimicrobials, oral hygiene, new standards in maintenance protocols

Paediatric Dentistry: choosing restorative materials, management of deep carious lesions (primary and permanent), behavioural management

Dr. Katie Xu, graduating with top honors in general dentistry from the University of Melbourne, pursued advanced studies in Orthodontics after practicing as a general dentist in Melbourne. With notable contributions to orthodontic research, including presentations at national conferences and publications in respected journals, Dr. Xu is an active member of professional organisations such as the ADA and the Australian Orthodontic Society. Dr. Alex, graduated top of his class at the University of Adelaide, before pursuing advanced studies in Periodontics at the University of Melbourne. His interests include oral systemic health links and pre-restorative and orthodontic periodontal surgery. Dr. Alex is co-director of ITI Malvern and part of the Australian Society of Periodontology. Serving as the Director of General Dental Residency, he passionately educates graduate dentists and oral health therapists.

Dr. Alyssa, is a highly experienced specialist peadiatric dentist. She completed her training at the University of Melbourne. Her interest in managing challenging children led her to specialise in paediatric dentistry. Alyssa is passionate about paediatric dentistry, particularly in handling anxious and special needs children.
